Necessary Patience

"We glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience"

Romans 5:3

Many times in life, we are put in positions where we have to wait. As servants of Yah, waiting on Him is one of the key aspects of being obedient to Him. In a world of instant gratification, necessary patience in seeking Yah seems almost impossible at times. Due to this lack of patience, many followers of Yah lose faith, and begin to heap themselves unto teachers due to their itching ears.

"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"

2 Timothy 4:3

As you can see, we are in those times now. With the plethora of motivational speakers, televangelists, social media religious leaders, and Hebrew Israelite camps, those who lack patience are looking for someone to follow. Throughout the scriptures, we see how waiting on Yah is the necessary alternative to hearkening unto the words of man.

"Trust in Yah with all your heart, and do not lean into your own understanding."

Proverbs 3:5

In uncertain times, we need to lean on Yah and Yah only. Just as the Messiah did when he was experiencing tribulation, we must cry and make supplications to Yah in times of need. Our society tells us that to be successful, we have to make detailed plans and stick to them. Thousands of self-help books will instruct you to "believe in yourself" or "follow your heart" in times of uncertainty, but the scriptures give us different advice.

"A man's heart devises his way; but Yah directs his steps."

Proverbs 16:9

When we feel like we are lacking patience, we have to understand that Yah has the plan already set up for us. Though we like to imagine how things should go and how we want things to be, that may not be Yah's purpose. The prophet Jeremiah tells us, "I know that the way of man is not in himself." (Jeremiah 10:23), and it is essential for us to internalize this as we wait on Yah.

Yah has a plan for us, and it is not the same plan that we have for ourselves. We need to continue to wait on Yah and refrain from leaning onto our own self-interests or following deceptive religious leaders.

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

James 1:4
